The Book Factory is a low-fi hi-brow diamond cut book kiln purple sheen. It makes the book object but you have to make the book. Every half hour the system discharges all stored (human) energy and (print) matter into the latest proof of 𝑵𝑨𝑮𝑶𝑳𝑶𝑮𝒀. Enter your will/words/wits/work into orbit and behold their precipitation into hard matter, or exhaust yourself trying. Join our temporary publishing house and write, edit, draw, print, or pedal to help us produce a series of unique books entirely with human energy.
The Book Factory is a mash up of Nag and 5ever Press, a live human-powered publishing house, where audience members participate in the writing, printing, and pressing of books, to music on a bicycle-powered record player. This installation has been presented multiple times, in The Performance Arcade, at Te Ramaroa, at BATS theatre, in the VERB festival, Zinefest New Zealand, and at the Wanaka Festival of Colour, and is coming to Cubadupa.
